Capital High School boys basketball coach Ben Gomez picked up his 300th career win Tuesday night with a 56-49 overtime victory against Valencia.

Following the win, Santa Fe Superintendent Hilario “Larry” Chavez and district athletic director Marc Ducharme awarded Gomez with a plaque recognizing the milestone.  Gomez also received cards and balloons that read “300”.

Gomez led his teams to five state championship appearances, including the school’s only state basketball title in 2004.

Capital is 10-4 on the season and will host Pojoaque Valley on Saturday evening.
