El Richards/Frances Walsh Spirit Scholarship presented by Varsity Spirit – Lexi Lujan – Española Valley HS

The New Mexico Activities Association is excited to announce the recipients of the 2019-2020 NMAA Foundation Scholarships.  Over 150 students were nominated or submitted applications, with a total of $22,000 being distributed through 18 different scholarships.  There were nine scholarship categories.  The NMAA will recognize each of these students individually on our website and social media platforms.

Lexy Lujan of Espanola Valley High School received a $1,000 El Richards/Frances Walsh Spirit Scholarship presented by Varsity Spirit.

Lexi Lujan, a senior at Española Valley High School, is a four-year member of the varsity cheerleading squad. During her time with the Sundevils Cheer squad, Lujan has helped guide her team to compete in both district and state competitions. She maintains a 4.3 GPA in the classroom.

Lujan is also involved in Student Council, serving as the student body president and has participated in the State Student Council Conference and the Student Council Summer Workshops. She is the vice-president of the National Honor Society at Española Valley.

She has helped coordinate a school clean-up crew and been involved on the prom committee as the committee’s chairperson, all while holding down a part-time job at her local Walgreens. This year, Lujan is in the running to be her class valedictorian.
