BEARS ARE BACK FOR ANOTHER RUN

 In General News, Press Releases

As the 2019 High School football season approaches, we will preview the defending state champs in each class.

Class 6A

La Cueva High School

2018 record: 13-0

Head Coach: Brandon Back

Last game: 33-14 win over Cleveland

2019 Outlook: The Bears return several key players on offense and should be another team to beat in the state’s largest classification.  Senior receiver Connor O’Toole is the most recruited player in this year’s class.  He has scholarship offers from at least 16 schools including Baylor, Colorado, Florida State, LSU and Washington State.  La Cueva’s defense has some new faces and will need to “grow up quickly” in the words of head coach Brandon Back.

Key returning players: seniors Connor O’Toole, Prince Nazir Robertson, Austin Smith, Barrett Hamaker, Noah Woisin, Jacob Carbajal, Caleb Mara, Dawson Burton; juniors Tyler Jensen, Brad Thomas, Ja’Shon Lowery, Vincent Garcia

“If we are going to be successful again, we need to play extremely well on defense.”-Brandon Back
