2018 STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT COMPLIMENTARY PASS LIST
The 2018 State Basketball Championships Complimentary Pass Lists have been sent out to all Athletic Directors this year.  Please complete the online form and submit to the NMAA by January 12, 2018. We will not be using the scanned form. The form is now online. Please keep in mind those school districts that have more than one school, the lists were sent to the District AD. Only those on this list will receive complimentary entrance to the state basketball tournament.  Basketball Coaches will not receive additional passes upon qualifying for the state tournament.  They will need these passes in order to get into the tournament unless they are entering with the team prior to a game and are within the 20 allotted members.  Coaches who do not have a pass and wish to enter when their team is not playing will not be granted complimentary entrance. Please note that the Athletic Director should be included on this list.  For more information call Nate Acosta at 505-923-3286.

NMAA STUDENT LEADERSHIP ADVISORY COUNCIL NOMINATIONS
The New Mexico Activities Association is filling vacancies for the 2018-2019 school year on its Student Leadership Advisory Council. The NMAA’s SLAC gives high school students a hands-on experience with the Association and provides them a direct line of communication to the staff. Any NMAA member school administrator may nominate a current freshman, sophomore or junior male and female to be a member of the NMAA Student Leadership Advisory Council. Click here to nominate. Deadline is March 1, 2018.

NMAA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
NMAA Foundation Scholarships are awarded to students from NMAA member schools who, through the application/nomination process, demonstrate excellence in athletics, activities, academics, and character.  Sixteen scholarships are available in six different categories.  The deadline to submit applications is Thursday, February 1, 2018.  For more information, please contact Dusty Young at 505-923-3268. MY REASON WHY
There are countless benefits to participating in high school sports and activities, but a lot of concerns as well. To overcome resistance and drive participation, #MyReasonWhy highlights diverse stories and memories shared by students, parents, coaches, officials and community members. We’re working together to show how participation not only develops individual skills and character for the future but drives a stronger sense of self and community that students will feel immediately and for the rest of their lives. To share your story visit www.nfhs.org/MyReasonWhy and share your story.

FEATURE STORY IDEAS
Attention Athletic Directors – If you have a student-athlete or a student in an activity at your school that you feel has a good story to tell, the NMAA would like to tell that story for you. Please email Tyler Dunkel at tyler@nmact.org or call at 505-923-3295 and share your feature story ideas.

COMPETE WITH CLASS NOMINATIONS
In an effort to establish and sustain the Compete with Class initiative, the NMAA will be highlighting acts of sportsmanship through various awards and recognition programs during the 2017-2018 school year.  In order to do this, our office NEEDS YOUR HELP!  Acts of sportsmanship by individuals, coaches, officials, administrators, spectators, or teams as a whole should be reported to the NMAA office as they occur.  Photos of these acts would also be appreciated.  Send your nominations to Tyler Dunkel at tyler@nmact.org.
