DION’S STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: MAJOR JOHNSON, SANTA ROSA HIGH SCHOOL
Every hallway at Santa Rosa High School has its leaders. Some lead with words. Others lead with actions. Major Johnson leads with both. As part of the monthly Dion’s Student Spotlight, Johnson stands out as the kind of student who seems to live several lives in one school day — athlete, mentor, volunteer, and future healer.
On Friday nights in the fall, he’s under the bright lights, cleats digging into the turf as a member of the football team. When spring arrives, he trades shoulder pads for spikes, chasing new personal bests in track and field. But it’s what he does between seasons — and between classes — that may define him most. Johnson is deeply involved in student council, Educators Rising, FCCLA, and HOSA, driven not by résumé building, but by something more personal. “I’ve known since I was young that I was able to help people,” Johnson said. “Being able to do that pushed me to represent my school.”
Whether he’s helping organize student events, encouraging classmates, or simply showing up when needed, Johnson has built a reputation as someone others can rely on. It’s a role he embraces naturally, and one he plans to carry forward long after graduation. His future goal is rooted in compassion. Johnson plans to attend college and become a therapist, inspired by the challenges he’s seen his peers face. “You go through tons of stress from finals to homework, especially if you go into extracurriculars,” he said. “Having a group there to help you is important.”
It’s that perspective — shaped by experience, empathy, and leadership — that makes Johnson more than just another standout student-athlete. He’s someone preparing not just to succeed, but to serve.
Meet Major Johnson — a Lion on the field, a leader in the classroom, and a difference-maker wherever he goes.
