Albuquerque Academy Receives National Attention For Their Success
Albuquerque Academy had plenty of athletic success in the 2024-2025 school year. Not only did they win the 2025 Nusenda Credit Union Director’s Cup in Class 4A, but this week the Chargers were recognized nationally. Albuquerque Academy finished the year ranked 13th in the MaxPreps Cup Standings.
“Being ranked 13th nationally in high school athletics is a powerful reflection of the dedication and commitment of Albuquerque Academy’s student-athletes and coaches,” said longtime Albuquerque Academy track and cross country coach Adam Kedge.
The MaxPreps Cup is an award presented annually to the top overall high school athletic program in the nation. Schools are ranked based on an algorithm that takes into account state championships, state runner-up finishes and placement in national rankings. Point totals are weighted based on size of state, popularity of sport, enrollment division and the number of teams participating in an enrollment division.
Albuquerque Academy won state championships in boys soccer, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls swimming, boys and girls golf, boys and girls tennis, and boys track and field. The Chargers also gained points in the MaxPrep Cup standings for state runner up finishes in girls soccer and girls track and field. “At the heart of this achievement is the strength of our track and field program, which thrives by drawing talent from students who compete in nearly every fall and winter sport,” Kedge said.
Cherry Creek High School, located in Greenwood Village, Colorado, finished first in the 2025 MaxPreps Cup standings. In the 14-year history of the MaxPreps Cup, Cherry Creek is the first school from Colorado to win.
