LA CUEVA AND WEST MESA SET NEW SCORING RECORD IN OFFENSIVE SHOOTOUT

There was a record breaking offensive game from West Mesa and La Cueva last week.  The Bears beat the Mustangs 89-62, breaking the state record for most combined points in an 11-man football game.  The 151 points between the two teams eclipsed the old mark of 130 points, set by Roswell and Lovington in 2019.

La Cueva quarterback Aidan Armenta threw for 445 yards and eight touchdowns.  Ian Sanchez caught five of those TD tosses.  West Mesa quarterback Elijah Brody threw for 430 yards and six scores.  The two teams combined for over 1,200 yards of total offense.   La Cueva put up 710 yards of total offense.  West Mesa accounted for 553 yards.

The Bears are 7-1 and take on Sandia this week and the Mustangs (3-5) will take on Rio Grande.
