Class 1A

Springer at Animas 4pm: Animas only has one senior, Naomi Campbell.

Reserve at To’Hajiilee 4pm: Reserve last won it all in 1978.

Alamo Navajo at Gateway Christian 5pm: Gateway Christian is 17-2 with their only losses to Capitan and Melrose.

Dora at Melrose 6pm: Melrose played in the final each of the last five years.

Evangel Christian/Oak Grove at Logan 5pm: Logan played in the final in 2020.  The Longhorns are led by senior Kira Conway.

Cliff at Roy/Mosquero 6pm: Roy/Mosquero is the defending state champ

Magdalena at Maxwell 5pm: Magdalena lost head coach Marleen Greenwood back in December in a fatal car accident.

Jemez Valley at Fort Sumner/House 6pm: Ft. Sumner/House won it all in 2018.

 

Class 2A

Questa at Escalante 6pm: Escalante won their last five games by an average of 38 points.  They are averaging 66 points a game.

Tatum at Menaul 4:30pm: Menaul head coach Sharon Max was a longtime assistant at Cibola High School and won state as a player with Kirtland Central.

Mescalero Apache at Rehoboth 6pm: Mescalero Apache won their last six games of the season. Mescalero Apache won it all in 2020.

Capitan at Penasco 5:30pm: Penasco played in the final two years ago.

Pecos at Eunice 6pm: Pecos is the defending state champ.  The Panthers have won two of the last three state titles.

Lordsburg at Laguna Acoma (at Grants HS) 6pm: Lordsburg played in the Class 2A final last season.

Mesa Vista at Santa Rosa 6pm: Santa Rosa last reached the final in 2004.

Dulce at Clayton 5pm: Clayton has won 12 state championships, their last one coming in 1994.

 

Class 3A

Raton at Robertson 6pm: The Cardinals only have one loss this year (Moriarty).  Robertson played in the final last year and return everyone from that squad.  Senior Jayden Jenkins leads the team with 17 points a game.

Zuni at Thoreau 5:30pm: Thoreau beat Zuni three times this season.

Tucumcari at Crownpoint 6pm: Crownpoint has won eight of their last nine games.

St. Michael’s at Navajo Prep 6pm: Navajo Prep is the two-time defending state champ.

Sandia Prep at Santa Fe Indian School 7pm: SFIS reached the final in 2019.

West Las Vegas at Socorro 6pm: West Las Vegas beat Socorro in the first game of the season.

Hatch Valley vs Dexter 6pm: Dexter beat Hatch Valley back in January.

Cuba at Tohatchi 6pm: Tohatchi was in the final in 2020.

 

Class 4A

Miyamura at Kirtland Central 6pm: Kirtland Central played in the final two of the last three years, but the Lady Broncos haven’t won it all since 2012.  They’ve won 19 state championships overall.

Hope Christian at Valencia 6pm: Valencia is led by freshman Jadyn Montoya.  Hope Christian is the only team to beat Bernalillo.

St. Pius X at Highland 7pm: The Hornets swept the Sartans in district play.

Los Alamos at Portales 6pm:  The Rams last won it all in 2018.  Portales didn’t face their first New Mexico opponent this year until January, 12 games into the season.  Senior Taris Rippee has started for Portales since she was a freshman.

Silver at Bernalillo 6pm: Bernalillo senior Juliana Aragon is averaging 30 points a game.  She has scored 787 points this season.

Espanola Valley at Taos 6pm: Taos won two of three meetings against Espanola Valley this season.  Espanola Valley reached the Class 4A final last season.

Goddard at Moriarty 6pm: Moriarty is the only team to beat Class 3A top seed Robertson.  The Pintos beat Goddard twice this season.

Chaparral at Gallup 6pm: Gallup is the defending state champ with 11 players returning from last year’s team.  Hailey Long is averaging 14 points and 9 rebounds a game.  This is Chaparral’s first appearance in the postseason.

 

Class 5A

Santa Fe at Volcano Vista 7pm: Volcano Vista is undefeated (25-0) and the defending state champ.  They are riding a 38-game win streak dating back to last season. The Hawks have played in the final each of the last two years.

Mayfield at Centennial 7pm: The teams split their two meetings this season by a total of 7 points.

Clovis at Las Cruces 6pm: Las Cruces has won 8 of their last 9 games.

Eldorado at Farmington 6pm: Farmington beat Eldorado twice this season.  The Eagles are led by freshman Bella Hines who is averaging almost 23 points a game.

Sandia at La Cueva 6pm: The Bears beat the Matadors three times this season.

Albuquerque High at Organ Mountain 6:30pm: Organ Mountain’s Harmanie Dominguez is averaging 21 points a game.

Cleveland at Carlsbad 6pm: The only teams to beat Carlsbad in the 2022 calendar year are Hobbs and Kirtland Central.

Piedra Vista at Hobbs 6pm: Hobbs has played in the final each of the last four years.  The Eagles are without Wisdom Anthony who suffered a torn ACL at the start of the season.  Aniya Joseph is the team’s leading scorer.

Boys

Class 1A

Ramah at Magdalena 5pm: Magdalena is the defending state champ.  The Steers have only lost two games in the last three seasons.  Magdalena is 72-2 over the last three years.  Joren Mirabal is averaging 26 points a game.  Head coach Jory Mirabal is in his 15th year with the program.

Dora at Legacy Academy 6pm: The Silverbacks are in the postseason for the first time ever.

Evangel Christian/Oak Grove at Clovis Christian 5pm: Neither team has ever reached the final.

Cliff at Roy/Mosquero 1pm: Cliff has 12 state championships, the last one coming in 2016.

Coronado at Mesilla Valley 3pm: Mesilla Valley is 20-1 with their only loss to 2-seed Elida back in December.  Mesilla Valley is riding a 14-game win streak.

Reserve at Ft. Sumner/House 6pm:  Reserve hasn’t won it all since 1981.

Springer at Melrose 5pm: Melrose played in a final each of the last four years.

Cimarron at Elida 4pm: Elida has never reached the state final.

 

Class 2A

Mescalero Apache at Tularosa 6pm: Tularosa is on a 19-game win streak.  They last won it all in 2012.

Lordsburg at Estancia 5pm: Lordsburg’s Quincy Connor is averaging almost 26 points a g­­ame.

Dulce at Menaul 6pm: Menaul only has one loss since the second week in December.

Santa Rosa at Escalante 7pm: Escalante has won 14 of their last 15 games.

McCurdy at Rehoboth Christian 5pm: Rehoboth Christian is the defending state champ.  Head Coach Kevin Zwiers is in his 19th season with the program.

Clayton at Jal 6pm: Jal played in the Class 2A final last season.

Texico at Hagerman 5pm: Hagerman won their first 11 games of the year and the Bobcats are 21-3 overall.

Penasco at Pecos 6pm: Pecos is on a 13-game win streak and they’ve won four of the last five state titles.

 

Class 3A

Tucumcari at Socorro 5pm: The Warriors are riding a 10-game win streak.  Socorro is led by head coach, and former Lobo, J.J. Griego.

Santa Fe Prep at Crownpoint 5pm: Crownpoint has won 12 of their last 13 games.

West Las Vegas at Navajo Prep 4pm: Navajo Prep is coming off a 2-point loss to Crownpoint after an 11-game win streak.

Tohatchi at St. Michael’s 5pm: St. Michael’s lost their first 10 games of the season (and 12 of their first 14), but have since won 11 of 13 and earned a 1st round home game.

Cottonwood Classical at Sandia Prep 6pm: Cottonwood Classical is in the postseason for the first time in school history. The Sundevils reached state final last season.

Santa Fe Indian School at Raton 6pm: Raton swept SFIS in the regular season.

Hot Springs at Bosque 4pm: Hot Springs is the defending state champ.  The Tigers have won state titles two of the last three years.

Dexter at Robertson 5pm: Robertson lost five of their first nine games, but have won 15 of their last 16. Robertson’s Matthew Gonzales is averaging 26 points a game.  Gonzales had a career-high 55 points against Estancia and another 47 points against West Las Vegas.

 

Class 4A

Miyamura at Highland 7pm:  The Hornets are on a 15-game winning streak and are led by 6’9” post player Jose Murillo who passed the 1,000 point mark for his career.  Highland last won a state title in 1972.

Lovington at Artesia 6pm: This will be the fourth meeting between these two teams.

Goddard at Albuquerque Academy 5pm: The Chargers won their district and are riding an eight-game win streak.

Valley at St. Pius X 6pm: Valley won it all in 2019 and 2020.

Los Alamos at Espanola Valley 6pm: The district rivals split their two previous meetings this eason. Espanola Valley played in the final in 2018.

Del Norte at Silver 4pm: The Knights won their first state title last season.  Shane Douma Sanchez missed the first half of the season recovering from a torn ACL and still won the district player of the year.

Gallup at Belen 5pm: Gallup beat Belen back in December.

Hope Christian at Taos 6pm:  Taos beat Hope Christian earlier this season in the final of the Husky Invitational.  Taos has 8 seniors on the roster.  The Tigers haven’t reached the final since 1998.

 

Class 5A

Albuquerque High at Las Cruces 4pm:  The Bulldawgs are undefeated at 28-0.  Las Cruces played in the final each of the last two years. Since at one-point win in their season opener against El Paso Chapin, no opponent has come within 15 points of beating them.  Las Cruces senior Deuce Benjamin is averaging over 26 points a game. It’s Aggie vs Lobo at the head coaching position with William Benjamin against Greg Brown.

Sandia at Santa Fe 7pm: The Matadors are led by 6’6” senior Sean Johnson.

Eldorado at Atrisco Heritage 6pm: Head coach Steve Heredia took over back in December.  He won a state title with Centennial in 2015.

Farmington at Hobbs 6pm: Hobbs has nine seniors on the squad. Senior Jalen Goar set the school record for most three-pointers in a career.

West Mesa at La Cueva 6pm: This is the 4th time they’ve faced each other this season.  The Mustangs beat the Bears back in February.

Cleveland at Los Lunas 6pm: Cleveland is the defending state champ and Los Lunas freshman Jalin Holland was the district player of the year.

Carlsbad at Rio Rancho 6pm:  Carlsbad only has one senior on the roster, Derek Sullivan. The Rams beat Carlsbad at the Artesia tournament back in December.  Carlsbad hasn’t won a state title since 1955.

Organ Mountain at Volcano Vista 6pm:  Volcano Vista has seven seniors on the roster. The Hawks are undefeated at 25-0, but have only played two teams (Clovis and Los Lunas) outside of the metro area.
