CARLSBAD PITCHERS PULL OFF A RARE FEAT
One no hitter is good. Throw in a perfect game on the same day by the same school and you have something special. Carlsbad’s TJ Ruiz and Ashley Hernandez threw a no hitter and perfect game on the same day.
Hernandez pitched a perfect game against Roswell High School on April 18, 2019. According to the Carlsbad Current Argus, Ruiz threw just 43 pitches in a five-inning 11-0 victory. Less than two hours later, Ruiz threw a no hitter for the baseball team in game two of a doubleheader against Clovis High School. Ruiz struck out 13 batters and only walked one in the seven-inning 9-0 win.
