HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES MONTH
October is National High School Activities Month.  It is a time to celebrate the contributions and benefits young people experience by participation in sports and activities.  NMAA member high schools are encouraged to promote the values inherent in interscholastic athletics and activities.

Each week during October will have a different focus.  October 15-19 is National Coaches/Sponsors/Advisors/Officials Appreciation Week.  It is a time to recognize all of the adults who work tirelessly on behalf of the students who participate in interscholastic programs.

TEAM PHOTO POSTING DEADLINES
Per NMAA bylaw 3.9.3, team photos must be posted to MaxPreps team pages for Football, Soccer and Volleyball. If you have not put your team photo on MaxPreps, Monday, October 15th, will be the last day those will be accepted.  Failure to do so will subject the school to a $250.00 fine per program.

ARBITER HELP
Athletic Directors – There have been a lot of questions on how to use the Arbiter. If you, an assistant or an administrative assistant need help with the arbiter please email Nate at nate@nmact.org or call (505)923-3286.

APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR SWIM/DIVE QUALIFYING MEETS
Applications for State Qualifying Meets are due Thursday, October 25, 2018 by 3:00 pm (no exceptions). Please remember, as per NMAA bylaws, ALL qualifying meets MUST include all swimming and diving events. The application form is available here: https://www.nmact.org/file/SandD_Meet_App.pdf.

COMPETE WITH CLASS NOMINATIONS
In an effort to establish and sustain the Compete with Class initiative, the NMAA will be highlighting acts of sportsmanship through various awards and recognition programs during the 2018-2019 school year.  In order to do this, our office NEEDS YOUR HELP!  Acts of sportsmanship by individuals, coaches, officials, administrators, spectators, or teams as a whole should be reported to the NMAA office as they occur.  Photos of these acts would also be appreciated.  Send your nominations to J.P. Murrieta at jp@nmact.org.

TWITTER ACCOUNTS & FEATURE ARTICLES
Coaches and athletic directors, we are encouraging all of you to help us spread the positive news about high school athletics.  If you have a Twitter account, please email us with your Twitter handle so we can follow you.  If your school or athletic program doesn’t have a twitter account, I highly recommend signing up for one.  It’s free and real easy to use and it’s become a simple way for keeping in touch with others involved in your program and getting your message out.  You can let us know your social media information by sending us an email to jp@nmact.org
