TRADITION MEETS THE TURF IN ALAMOGORDO

 In General News, Press Releases

For the Alamogordo Tigers, even the field they call home tells a story.

With the Tigers (3-4, 2-2) on a bye week, the team traded its usual morning workout for an afternoon practice. And if you haven’t seen it, take a look at the turf beneath them. Alamogordo plays on the only gray artificial turf in New Mexico, a distinctive surface inspired by the fighter jets that have long been part of the community’s identity through its close ties with Holloman Air Force Base.

Installed before the 2025 season, the gray turf is more than a unique backdrop. It’s a nod to the history, people and traditions that make Alamogordo what it is.

Now, the Tigers get a week to reset before heading back on the road to face Gadsden on Oct. 16.
