 In General News, Press Releases

In its 41st year celebrating the nation’s best high school athletes, Gatorade today announced Addison Massey of Las Cruces High School is the 2025-26 Gatorade New Mexico Volleyball Player of the Year. It’s the third year in a row Massey has won the honor.

The 6-foot-1 senior outside hitter led the Bulldawgs to a 27-0 record and a third straight Class 5A state championship this past season. Massey recorded 571 kills and 221 digs, including a 36-kill, 12-dig effort in the Las Cruces’ 3-1 win over La Cueva High School in the state final. She also compiled 51 service aces, 38 assists and 21 blocks while posting a .639 kill percentage and a .519 hitting percentage to earn American Volleyball Coaches Association Second Team All-American honors.

Massey has volunteered locally cooking food for Aggies for Christ, a campus ministry at New Mexico State University, and she has donated her time to multiple community service initiatives through her church. “This season, like every season previous, Addison has been an impressive volleyball player,” said Teyna Montoya, head coach of Organ Mountain High School. “She can do it all: she’s an elite blocker, defender, great in serve-receive and from the service line.”

Massey, who is home-schooled, has maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a written letter of athletic aid to play volleyball at Kansas State University this fall.
