MaxPreps recently put out a list of the best high school volleyball player in each state heading into the 2025 season.  Players were identified based on last year’s statistical data provided to MaxPreps as well as local, state or national honors from multiple media outlets.  MaxPreps writer Aaron Williams listed Las Cruces senior Addison Massey as the top player in the Land of Enchantment heading into this season.

“I’m grateful for that title; however, I want to make sure that my mindset never changes,” Massey said. “I know I need to keep improving and cannot become complacent. I want to be the absolute best version of myself in tactics and leadership.”

“I think the best word to describe Addison Massey is ‘voracious’,” said Las Cruces head coach Keith Leupold.  “In my 41 years of coaching at Las Cruces High School, she is the most complete player that has competed for me as a Bulldawg.  She is the complete package; hitting, receiving serve, serving, defending, blocking, she excels at it all.”

The senior outside hitter led the Bulldawgs to an undefeated (27-0) season in 2024 and a 2nd straight state championship.  Massey racked up 516 kills in her junior year, along with 236 digs.  Massey committed to play volleyball at Kansas State in 2026. “I am constantly thinking of the next step, so with college right around the corner, I want to ensure that I’m entering as prepared as I can be,” said Massey. “However, it is always important to be in the moment, leading me into my team goals, which would be win district again and then to win state.”

Las Cruces is on a 30-match win streak dating back to 2023.  The Bulldawgs open the season on August 29that the Franklin Hussmann Tournament.
