ARTESIA HIGH SCHOOL HAS THE BULLDOG STANDARD
Many high school programs adopt a phrase or motto at the start of a season. Artesia football coach and athletic director Jeremy Maupin has a new one for his team heading into the upcoming year. The Artesia High School football program is the gold standard when it comes to state championships. The Bulldogs have won more state football titles than any other program in New Mexico, an impressive 32 overall. Artesia reached the state final in each of the past four seasons. Head coach Jeremy Maupin says his team is setting “The Bulldog Standard” this season. He has a new motto where every letter in their BULLDOG mascot name means something different.
- Be the best version of yourself
- Unity, we are united
- Leadership
- Loyalty
- Discipline
- Off the Field, what you do off the field matters
- Grit
“As a department, we are using that as a standard and fitting all we want and making it happen,” said Maupin, also the school’s athletic director. “People make fun of us because we all wear the same-colored cleats and our socks are the same, but that’s unity. That’s something we feel separates us when we walk down the ramp, we look like one unit. We can find something meaningful in all those words.”
The Bulldogs open the football season August 22nd at Carlsbad.
