“Anytime you need someone to talk to, come find me.”

Each month, we will spotlight a student from New Mexico who is involved in various athletics and/or activities.  Here’s a look at this month’s Dion’s Student Spotlight. Her interests include athletics and the environment.  She competes in volleyball, basketball, and track and field.  She is also involved in an environmental club at school.  “Last year, the special topic was climate change and that was really interesting,” said the high school junior.  She is also concerned about the mental well-being of her classmates. “High school people are some of the happiest people you know, but you never really know what someone is dealing with because they might not want to talk about it,” she said. “I’m always there for people.  I tell them, ‘Anytime you need someone to talk to, come find me.’”

Meet Alyssa Atencio from Penasco High School.
