LA CUEVA’S GERARD PINEDA PICKS UP 300TH WIN

 In General News, Press Releases

La Cueva baseball coach Gerard Pineda reached a milestone victory mark over the weekend.  Pineda picked up his 300th career win in a doubleheader sweep over Eldorado.  The Bears beat the Eagles 9-1 and 4-2.  La Cueva is now 21-4 on the season.

“Getting to that milestone is a by-product of being fortunate enough coach really good baseball players, who are great people as well,” said Pineda. “A lot of credit needs to go to our coaching staff and my family for their support. We have always had high character, extremely knowledgeable coaches mentoring these young men. Finally, I couldn’t have done this without my wife, Bridget, she has been the glue keeping this all together.”

Pineda took over as head coach at La Cueva during the 2009-2010 season and has won six state championships.  Pineda’s teams have won 17-games or more in all 13 seasons. His current overall record is 301 wins and 63 losses.
