NMAA STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The New Mexico Activities Association would like to advise the public of important information pertaining to the 2020 NMAA State Basketball Championships. First Round games will take place this coming weekend at the site of the higher seed. First-round girls’ games will be played on Friday, March 6, followed by the boys’ first-round games on Saturday, March 7. Tickets for the first round of the tournament are $5 for students/senior/military and $10 for adults.

The Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals will be played March 10-14 in the Albuquerque metro area.  UNM’s Dreamstyle Arena will play host to the majority of the tournament, with all state championship finals being played on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14.  Rio Rancho’s Santa Ana Star Center will host games Tuesday, March 10 – Thursday, March 12.  Bernalillo High School will host games on Wednesday, March 11 (see NMAA website for specific schedule/bracket information). The University of New Mexico will charge $5.00 for parking for all vehicles.  Parking is free at the Santa Ana Star Center and Bernalillo High School. Due to new security protocols at Dreamstyle Arena, it is recommended that spectators arrive early as metal detectors and bag screenings are now required processes for entry to the facility.

* Tournament passes will be sold until Monday, March 9 at 10:00 AM at the NMAA or by calling 505.923.3110. Tournament passes are $150 and provide re-entry privileges throughout the tournament, as well as a reserved seat at The Pit.

STATE BASKETBALL PASSES
Tournament passes for the 2020 NMAA State Basketball Championships are on sale NOW! Passes may be purchased at the NMAA Office (6600 Palomas NE, Albuquerque) or over the phone at 505-923-3266. The cost per pass is $150, which includes a reserved seat at Dreamstyle Arena The Pit and a commemorative event program. Additionally, pass holders are entitled to entry into all State Basketball games at all tournament sites, including the first round of state beginning on March 6th. The last day to purchase tournament passes is Monday, March 9th at 10 a.m.

VIDEO STREAMING:
The NFHS Network will offer all quarterfinal, semifinal and championship games LIVE online for a subscription fee with prices starting at $10.99.  Fans should go to www.nfhsnetwork.com to sign up today; fans are also encouraged to sign up early to get their access code to avoid missing any of the games.

POSTED REFERENDA ITEMS
The NMAA Board of Directors is asking member schools to vote on several referendum items approved at the February 20th Board meeting. The referenda items are available at the link below. Please take the time to carefully review these items and to complete, sign, and return the referenda by 4:00 pm, Monday, March 9, 2020. Click here to view the referenda items.

COMPETE WITH CLASS SCHOLARSHIP
The New Mexico Activities Association, in conjunction with the NMAA Foundation, will be awarding a maximum of eight (8) $1,000 Compete with Class scholarships during the 2019-2020 school year.  Awards will be given to students that best exemplify the three pillars of the Compete with Class sportsmanship initiative – Respect, Integrity, and Responsibility.  Recipients will be selected by the NMAA Foundation Board of Directors based on recommendations from the NMAA and its member schools.
