SUBWAY FEATURED STUDENT: ANDRES SANTAELLA, GADSDEN HIGH SCHOOL

 In General News, Press Releases

Andres Santaella is a running back from Gadsden High School who isn’t afraid of a little contact.  He first took up the sport in the seventh grade playing flag football.  Making the transition to tackle football was an adjustment.  â€œIt was pretty rough,†he said.  â€œI didn’t know what to expect.â€

“Now I like the competitiveness and the contact.† The senior has a new head coach for his final season of high school football.  Dino Facio Jr took over the program and Santaella welcomed the change.  â€œCoach always makes sure we are flying around and having fun.â€

“There hasn’t been many wins coming in and now as seniors we are coming together as one,†explained Santaella. “Having a new coaching staff this year got us excited because it was something new.â€

Santaella hopes to pursue a career in law enforcement, “They protect their community and it’s challenging because you don’t know what could happen.â€

Protect and serve, it’s a motto Andres Santaella wouldn’t mind following for years to come.
