RECORD PERFORMANCES IN HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

 In General News, Press Releases

We are only two weeks into the high school football season and we’ve already seen some eye-popping numbers posted.

The 76-54 score between Roswell and Lovington is a record for most points scored by both teams in a football game (130), breaking the 2011 game between Academy and Taos (89-40).   Lovington now has the dubious record of scoring the most points while losing a New Mexico football game. Cibola quarterback Aden Chavez threw for 428 yards and six touchdowns in his week one debut against Sandia.  The freshman’s performance would tie him for 15th on the state’s list of most passing touchdowns in a game.
Soverign Anthony of Hobbs recorded 13 catches against Artesia for 210 yards and two touchdowns.  His 13 catches is tied for 6th most in a New Mexico football game.

La Cueva kicker Dominic Camacho tied the state’s all-time career record with 28.  According to La Cueva head coach Brandon Back, Camacho had 8 field goals as a sophomore and 16 last season as a junior.
