On June 5, 2008, by a unanimous vote, the Board of Directors approved revising the seeding and selection criteria
for Class 3A-5A for the 2008-2009, 2009-2010 school years.
The regular season district champion will be the only team to automatically advance to the State Championships.
The only time a regular season district runner up will automatically advance is if they win the District Tournament (volleyball and basketball are the only sports that have district tournaments). The district champ will be seeded with the at large teams depending on the number of teams in the bracket (i.e. football 12 teams, soccer 12 teams, volleyball 12 teams, basketball 16 teams, softball 16 teams, baseball 16 teams).
