NMAA Board Summary 12-19-06
On December 19, 2006 after reviewing the results of the recent referenda, the Board of Directors passed by a unanimous vote changing the ineligibility period for transfers in good standing from 180 school days to 90 school days. Students must be in good standing at the previous school and not transferring for athletic purposes in order to qualify for the 90 day ineligibility period. The following is a step by step process that needs to occur prior to a 180 day ineligible athlete becoming eligible under the 90 day period this school year:
* The athletic director must submit in writing by e-mail: (smarquez@nmact.org or bmullins@nmact.org) or by fax (923-3114) a request for review of the file for 90 day eligibility.
* Submissions will be processed on a first come, first serve basis.
* Starting January 3, 2007, Becky Mullins and Sally Marquez will review the requested files and write letters indicating eligibility status. Eligibility status will not be given over the phone.
* A student-athlete is not eligible under the 90 day period until a letter has been mailed or faxed to the athletic director.
* Student athletes that may become eligible under this new rule will not be eligible over the winter break.
