CONCUSSION LEGISLATION BECOMES LAW:
Senate Bill 1 was recently passed by the New Mexico State Legislature and signed into law by Governor Bill Richardson.

LIFE OF AN ATHLETE ON-LINE CURRICULUM:
The NMAA Life of An Athlete Alcohol education program will be officially launched at the end of July.  Students, parents, coaches, and administrators will be able to log onto a website to learn about the dangers of alcohol, specifically as it relates to athletic performance.  The NMAA will host a press conference on July 28 (3:00-4:00 PM Hilton Hotel).  More information will be forthcoming about this informative program.

 

MVP 2.1 SYSTEM:
The NMAA is upgrading the MVP system this summer.  The new system, called MVP 2.1, is anticpated to launch at the begining of July. For more information on the new system, please contact Bill Cleland, NMAA Assistant Director, at 505.923.3271 or bcleland@nmact.org.

 

NATIONAL ANTHEM AUDITIONS:
The NMAA will be holding open auditions for any individuals/ensembles interested in performing the National Anthem at the 2010-2011 State Championship Events. Auditions will be held every Monday in July from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the NMAA offices.  Auditions may also be recorded and mailed to the NMAA.  All individuals/ensembles will need to complete an audition application- click here.

There are three referendas that are due to the NMAA on July 9.

Financial Impact Upon State Championship Events
Baseball Protests and Soccer Yellow Card

 

ALIGNMENT AND CLASSIFICATION:
The NMAA will be implementing a new alignment and classification for the 2010-2011 school year.  This alignment is considered a four-year block and will run through the 2013-2014 school year.  Click here to view the new alignment.
