IN THE NEWS:

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:

There are only two options regarding commitment, you’re either IN or you’re OUT.  There is no such thing as life in-between.

-Pat Riley

Miami Heat

When it comes to doing the right thing, either you do or you don’t; doing something most of the time just doesn’t cut it.  We all need to understand, and we must make sure our kids understand that when we make a commitment, we need to go all the way, no half stepping and no turning back.

Gary Tripp

Executive Director

REFERENDA ITEMS - DUE APRIL 22ND

Three referenda items are currently available for a vote of member schools.  One item involves the selection of football playoff officials, another concerns sub-varsity soccer contests, and the last concerns a standardized pool play pay scale for volleyball.  Click here to download the referenda packet.  Remember, votes are due to the NMAA Office by 4:00 pm on April 22, 2011.

STATE CHOIR CONTEST AND BAND CONTEST

The State Choir Contest will be held April 15-16 at Albuquerque Academy.  This event will start at 9:00 AM and continue through the weekend. The State Concert Band Contest will take place April 15-16 at Cleveland High School.  Come join us for a tremendous event as bands throughout the state compete to take home the blue trophy.  For more information please visit our website or contact Kristin Derr at 505-923-3265. Click here for the complete schedule of these events.

TRACK AND FIELD QUALIFYING RESULTS FORM

Athletic Directors please be sure your coaches are using the attached form to submit all qualifiers for the state track and field championships.  The NMAA does not need the results to these track meets, just the attached form properly filled out.  For questions please contact Jackie Gallegos at 505.923.3280.  Click here for the form.

SELECTION OF UMPIRES FOR THE STATE BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The NMAA is asking for the help of our member schools relative to the selection of umpires for the 2011 NMAA State Baseball and Softball Championships.  School input is due back to our office by noon on Monday, April 11, 2011.  Follow the links below to access the ballots:

·         Baseball - http://www.nmact.org/pages/baseball_important_docs/Baseball_Ballot.pdf

·         Softball - http://www.nmact.org/pages/softball_important_dos/Softball_Ballot.pdf

Thank you for your assistance in this important process!  If you have any questions, please contact Dana Sanchez at 505-923-3277 or via email at dsanchez@nmact.org.

SUBMISSION OF 2011 FOOTBALL SCHEDULES AND OFFICIALS’ EXCLUSIONS

The NMAA is requesting your school’s 2011 varsity football schedule and officials' exclusions. This information is due to the NMAA office by May 1, 2011. There are three documents associated with completion of this process.  The links to the documents are below:

1)       2011 Football Schedule Spreadsheet:

http://www.nmact.org/athletics/football/ (it is the first item under “Important Documents)

2)       2011 Football Schedule Instructions:  http://www.nmact.org/pages/football_important_docs/FB_Schedule_Instructions.pdf

3)       2011 Football Officials’ Exclusion Documentation: http://www.nmact.org/pages/football_important_docs/FB_Officials_Exclusion.pdf

In order to submit your football schedule, you will need to open the blank spreadsheet, fill it in, save it and email it back to us as an attachment.  Remember that we only need your VARSITY HOME GAMES. Your opponent will submit your away games to us and we do not need sub-varsity schedules from you.  You will submit your sub-varsity schedules to your local assignor for the assignment of officials to those games.  Football schedules will only be accepted via email to dsanchez@nmact.org.

Please note that the spreadsheet this year is different than in the past.  We are using a spreadsheet with drop-down menus, which will ensure that the names of schools are consistent when we import them back to the Arbiter for the assignment of officials.  Please refer to the “2011 Football Schedule Instructions” document for information on how to use the spreadsheet.  Coaches can exclude up to 5% of the officials in each region by using the instructions on the attached document.  Exclusions can be faxed, emailed or mailed to our office.  We ask that Athletic Directors please forward this information to your head varsity football coach.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.  If there are questions about this process, please contact Dana Sanchez at dsanchez@nmact.org or 505-923-3277.
