TRACK & FIELD (DIRECT ATHLETICS) INFORMATION:
As you know, the NMAA attempted to improve the Direct Athletics reporting system for track & field this spring. It was
our goal to work with Direct Athletics to create a more user friendly system that would make track & field coaches' jobs easier. Unfortunately, over the course of the last month we have received many e-mails and telephone calls regarding the new system. We have also come to the realization that a lot of the results were incorrect because of conversion and FAT/ Hand held data entry errors.
We apologize for the confusion that this "attempted" improvement has caused. As a result, we have decided to go back to the Direct Athletics system that we have used for the past four years. The problem with this decision is that any qualifiers that were entered into Direct Athletics prior to Monday, March 14 had to be re-entered. Coaches need to log into to their Direct Athletics system and enter qualifiers in the same manner they have for the past three years. Click on the green “Register” button to the right of the “2010 State Championship Meet” link.
All coaches had until April 1 to enter all state qualifiers into the Direct Athletics system that were previously entered. The seven-day window that coaches have to enter state qualifiers will go into effect the April 1-2 weekend.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this issue, please contact Robert Zayas, NMAA Assistant Director, at 505.977.5386. We know that going back to the "old" system will create a few problems for coaches; however, we would rather have problems in March, instead of problems in May when it really counts.
SURVEY- ECONOMY:
You are invited to participate in a study titled “Economy’s Impact on Interscholastic Athletic Budgets.” The investigators would like to determine how the current economy has impacted interscholastic athletic budgets. In other words, has the current economic downturn forced athletic administrators to take steps to overcome budget reductions. If so, what steps have been taken. Click here to take the survey.
NFHS SECTION VI COACH OF THE YEAR:
The NMAA would like to congratulate Noel Trujillo, from Los Alamos High School, as the recipient of the 2010 NFHS Section 6 Speech and Debate Coach of the Year!
