ADMINISTRATORS:
» Alignment and Classification:
The alignment and classification committee meet on Tuesday (Sept. 11) and Wednesday (Sept. 12).  The committee will present information to the Board of Directors on October 3 regarding the alignment for the 2008-2009, 2009-2010 school year.  The Board will decide on October 3 to implement a new alignment and classification or delay any adjustment to the current system.

» Seeding and Selection Representatives:
Seeding and Selection representative forms were due to the NMAA on September 1.  Please click here to download a seeding and selection form for the Fall Sports Championship seasons.

» Directors Cup:
As we begin the new school year, please be advised of the following adjustments that will be made to the Director’s Cup scoring criteria.  We will be adding a sportsmanship component which will include the following guidelines:

The school year will be divided into three seasons; Fall, Winter and Spring. Each season will include the sports and activities that take place during that time frame.

A school that receives “zero” violations during a sports season will be awarded 100 points, the same amount awarded for a state championship. Thus, a school with “zero” violations throughout the school year can earn a maximum of 300 points toward their Director’s Cup total. If a school has two “clean” seasons they would be awarded 200 points, and one “zero violation” season, 100.  Obviously if a school has violations in each of the three seasons, they would earn no points.

Violations are those reported to the NMAA and they include: player ejection, coach ejection, negative fan behavior, multiple yellow cards (soccer) resulting in ejection, and inappropriate behavior of a coach, player or administrator.  Also included are NMAA bylaw infractions resulting in probationary sanctions levied on the school.

The New Mexico Activities Association and New Mexico Officials Association would like to cordially invite you to attend the 1st Annual Communication Summit to be held in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Wednesday, October 10, 2007.

The purpose of the summit is to bring basketball coaches and officials together to discuss issues relative to communication between coaches, officials and student-athletes in order to make games the best possible atmosphere for all involved parties.  Many coaches have requested this type of summit in the past few years and we are excited to be bringing it to you.

We are excited to have the first summit in beautiful Northern New Mexico and our hope is to host a summit in each region of the state in the future.  Our speaker for the event will be Mr. Jimmy Casas, a nationally renowned NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Official from Denver, Colorado.  Jimmy is currently the coordinator for the Referee Educational Forums in Colorado and New Mexico, where officials discuss communication skills from the pre-game to the final buzzer.

Our hope is that we can get 100% attendance from the coaches and officials in Northern New Mexico so that we can begin the process of building beneficial and positive relationships between all members of the interscholastic family in the years to come.

Details of the Summit are as follows:

Date: Wednesday, October 10, 2007
Time:  9:00 a.m – 4:00 p.m.
