Items of Interest as a result of the Board of Directors meeting on November 30, 2006:A referenda vote will occur to consider changing the ineligibility period from 180 school days to 90 school days. The referenda will be sent to the membership by Dec. 5, 2006.
The Board of Directors tabled a proposal to establish a definition for hardship or consider the possibility of eliminating hardship completely.
The Board of Directors passed when tie-breaking procedures are used to determine district standings, forfeited games will list scores that are the maximum allowed by that particular sport in their district or by the NMAA handbook.
A proposal to begin spring sports on Week #30 versus Week #33 for the spring 2007 only did not pass. Therefore, all spring sports will start practice on
February 5, 2007.
FAILED 5-4The Board of Directors voted to allow 7th graders moving to 8th grade to make up one summer core curriculum academic class to be used for eligibility purposes as is presently the case at the high school level.
The Board of Directors voted to implement a statewide Sports Medicine Advisory Committee.
The Board of Directors passed by 5-4 to allow mid school/junior high school basketball teams to play 18 games versus 15 games starting with the current season.
The next Board of Directors Meeting will be held Jan. 24, 2007.
