DECA Marketing Education
DECA is an association of marketing students recognized and endorsed by all 50 state Departments of Education and the U.S. Department of Education. New Mexico Deca website. National Deca website.
DECA is not extracurricular; it is co-curricular, meaning it is an integral part of classroom instruction. DECA seeks to attract students who are interested in preparing for marketing, management, or entrepreneurial careers, including those interested in continuing their education in these areas. While DECA membership consists primarily of current marketing education students and advisors, it is also extended to alumni and business professionals.
DECA's goal is for its student members to develop a "success kit" to carry into their business and personal lives after graduation. DECA accomplishes this through classroom integration, on-the-job experience, chapter projects and community service, and competency-based competitive events in specific marketing and management occupations at both the state and national level.
DECA provides specific programs for the classroom teacher to use in student development and achievement. These programs can be organized into four categories; Leadership Development, Community Service, Skill Assessment and Academic skill development.
